KWANG-GAE Hyung

Kwan Gae was named after Kwan Gae Ta Wang, 19th king of the Kogurayu Dynasty who recovered all of the lost territories including the greater part of Manchuria. The diagram represents the expansion and recovery of lost territories. The 39 movements represents the first two figures of the year 391AD the year he came to the throne.

Begin in parallel stance with a high heaven hand
at C facing front.

1. Push both hands quickly sideways and then slowly outward to describe a large circle as lower eyes slowly
and bring left foot slowly to right foot to a middle close ready stance B (left hand cupping right fist belt high),
performing all movements synchronised together;
2. Slowly slide the left foot to left walking stance to D with right upset punch and left ready fist;
3. Slowly slide the right foot to right walking stance to D with left upset punch and right ready fist;
4. Move the left foot forward to cross in front of the right foot and then move the right foot to right walking stance to D with right high hooking block to D;
5. Withdraw the right foot and slide toward C to left sparring stance to D with left low knife-hand guarding block;
6. Move the right foot forward to cross in front of the left foot and then move the left foot to left walking stance to D with left high hooking block to D;
7. Withdraw the left foot and slide toward C to right sparring stance to D with right low knife-hand guarding block;
8. Move the left foot to left cat stance (standing on right foot) to D with high left knife-hand guarding block;
9. Move the right foot to right cat stance (standing on left foot) to D with high right knife-hand guarding block;
10. Slowly move the left foot to cross in front of the right foot and then pivot left on the left foot as move the right foot toward D to left walking stance to C with right palm upward scooping block {belt high) in slow motion (left ready fist);
11. Slowly move the right foot to right walking stance to C with left palm upward scooping block in slow motion;
12. Reach both hands upward and then describe a large circular motion with both hands as slowly bring the left foot to the right foot to form a close ready stance to C and strike the left palm with the right knife-hand in front of belt;
13. Left pressing kick to E and, without lowering the left foot, withdraw the left foot slightly and continue consecutively …

15. Lower the left foot to left sparring stance to E with right knife-hand inward strike as bring the left fist to in front of the right shoulder; immediately …
16. Pull the ieft foot back toward the right foot with left hammer-fist downward (collarbone) strike to E;
17. Right pressing kick to F and, without lowering the right foot, withdraw the right foot slightly and continue consecutively …

22. Slowly move the right foot to right walking stance to C with left downward pressing block in slow motion (right palm upward at end as counter-balance);
23. Withdraw the right foot as pivot right on the right foot and move the right foot toward D on line CD in a stamping motion to a sitting stance toward F with a high right back-fist strike to D;
